The importance of the alt tag for your website
The Alt attribute provides alternative information for images. It allows you to describe your image to search engines so they can understand it.
Our Example throughout this discussion:
Our company uses a content management system (CMS) called WordPress. Our business is located in Fairview Texas. Our Product is Widgets, which we sell online only through our website. We order new widgets every week. We take photos of these widgets with our company digital camera.
Our image is listed as dsc00015.jpg (Picture of a widget). The image is uploaded through WordPress Media. It is then added to the page.
If you view the source of the page, the image will closely resemble this
Does this help the search engines to identify the images? The above example does not help the search engine Identify the image.

Renaming the image file to make it more descriptive, using the alt tag, and adding a location makes it easier for the search engine to determine the image. By adding the location of the business gives more emphasis to the search engine about the business.

Adding Keywords to your Alt tag
By adding Keywords to Alt tags your making it more SEO friendly. This is known as your “On Page Factor” for your website.
All images within your website should be descriptive (see “Is there even a better way”) and have an alt tag with keywords and location listed in it.
